Belvoir Bay ($3.40) won her fifth stakes in her last seven starts in Saturday's Wishing Well Stakes for fillies and mares at five furlongs on turf.
Belvoir Bay pulled clear in the stretch to win by 4 3-4 lengths over 14-1 Lady Suebee. A Little Bit Me, a 9-1 chance, finished third in the field of nine. Poster Girl (11-1) unseated jockey Mike Smith at the start when she veered to the inside from the first post position. Smith was quickly on his feet. Poster Girl ran freely during the race and was caught while pulling up.
Belvoir Bay ran five furlongs on turf in 56.39 seconds. The race was scheduled for about 6 1-2 furlongs on the hillside turf course, but was switched to five furlongs on the oval course because of rain on Friday. Santa Anita recently changed its policy for races that come off the hillside turf course, giving the track the option of running the race at five furlongs on turf instead of 6 1-2 furlongs on dirt.
Belvoir Bay, a 6-year-old mare by Equiano, races for Gary Barber and trainer Peter Miller. Joel Rosario rode Belvoir Bay, who has won 11 of 24 starts in her career.
