Those eligible to play the NYRA Bets late pick-5 breathed a sigh of relief when likely single Blewitt ($2.90) persevered to victory in this second-level NY-bred allowance race. Manny Franco rode the winner for Todd Pletcher and Mike Repole, who named the horse for his (and our) good friend Jason Blewitt, the former NYRA, current Gulfstream Park racing analyst.
Blewitt kicked off the late pick-5 that had $148,125 new money in the pool on top of a $42,511 carryover.
Blewitt and Bon Raison (who won a first-level allowance yesterday) are both entered in but will be scratched from a Thursday allowance race here.
