Champion Shamrock Rose and Grade 1 winner Whitmore were out early Saturday morning, putting in works for upcoming stakes engagements at Oaklawn Park.
The track was fast for works on an overcast morning in the 40s.
Shamrock Rose worked in company, outside her mate, covering five-eighths in 1:00. The move was the second fastest of 40 at the distance Saturday at Oaklawn. Oaklawn clockers had her final quarter in 23.60 seconds and galloping out six furlongs in 1:12.20.
"I sat off my company a couple of lengths, finished up with them," said jockey David Cohen, who was aboard Shamrock Rose. "She had a very nice, strong gallop out."
Shamrock Rose will move to two turns for her next start, as trainer Mark Casse said last month she is being pointed for the Grade 2 Azeri at Oaklawn on March 16.
Whitmore went in company, situated along the rail while going a half-mile in 47.20 seconds. Oaklawn's clockers carried him out five-eighths in 59.60 seconds. He is being pointed for the Hot Springs here Saturday, according to his trainer, Ron Moquett.
Others out early included Long Range Toddy and Laughing Fox, who went five-eighths in company in 1:00.80. Trainer Steve Asmussen said later Saturday morning that both horses remain on deck for the Grade 2, $1 million Rebel on March 16 at Oaklawn.
Jersey Agenda and Comedian also worked in company for Asmussen, going five-eighths in 1:01.20. Another quality 3-year-old for the barn, Boldor, worked by himself in 1:02.60.
