After .14 inches of rain fell overnight (and still spitting this a.m.) in the Lexington area (per weather.gov), the main track has been sealed for morning training here at Keeneland, where a 9-race card will conclude the opening 4-day span of this spring meet with a 1:05 ET first post.
As of 9:10 a.m. ET, all three turf races remain ON, per the racing office, most notably the G2 Appalachian (R9, 4:57) in which Chad Brown will go for his 4th victory in the last 8 runnings with CLAUSE and REGAL GLORY. It wouldn't be surprising, however, if one of the undercard turf races (R3 or R6) winds up being transferred to the main track, depending of course on how the rain persists. The forecast for the rest of the day say there's more rain in store for us. High temps will peak around 69.
We'll have some follow-up material from the huge Blue Grass card here yesterday a bit later on www.drf.com (notable Beyers are already available here in an earlier Live post), but yes, all the key players from the Blue Grass exited in good order, including the dominant winner, VEKOMA.
Here are the early Sunday scratches:
R1: 3, 5, 6, 9, 11
R2: 1
R3: 8, all AEs
R6: 2, 15 (L.Saez on #6)
R7: 1
R9: 8, 11, 14
