It may be a short field, but the Count Fleet Sprint will feature two of the better male sprinters in the country in MITOLE (1) and WHITMORE (4). From a handicapper's perspective, it's the ultimate what-if scenario: if Mitole is allowed another easy lead, is there any chance that Whitmore will be able to run him down? If Whitmore stays close to Mitole and eventually confronts him, how will Mitole react to being taken on by a legitimate battled-hardened runner?
Mitole's tactical edge may be too much to overcome, but I think Whitmore will be sent hard in an attempt to keep Mitole from shaking clear too much; if he can be within a neck as they turn for home, I think the seasoned veteran will be able to get the job done. I like Whitmore to defeat Mitole in this afternoon's Count Fleet.
