This may be the year Ahimsa lives up to trainer Peter Eurton's expctations.

Eurton spoke favorably of Ahimsa last year after she won an allowance race with a claiming option on the hillside turf course in April. Ahimsa was seventh and fourth in stakes in the spring and summer.

Sunday, Ahimsa ($13.40) won her 4-year-old debut in an optional claimer at a mile on turf. Ridden by Brice Blanc, Ahimsa led throughout and won by 3 1-4 lengths in 1:35.03. She has won half of her six career starts. The next objective is certain to be in a turf stakes.
