Oaklawn Park closed out its raceweek Saturday and its current claim count sits at 500 horses haltered for $8.1 million in transactions between stables since the meet started Jan. 25. The track is racing through May 4.
Oaklawn will be dark on Sunday in observance of Easter. Racing resumes Thursday.
The leaders entering the final two weeks of the meet are as follows:
M and M Racing leads owner standings with 54 wins; current second-leading owner is Danny Caldwell with 20
Steve Asmussen leads trainer standings with 53 wins; current second-leading trainer is Robertino Diodoro with 41
Ricardo Santana, Jr., leads jockey standings with 64 wins; current second-leading jockey is David Cohen with 61.
There are a few major stakes left at the meet, with the list for the Oaklawn Invitational, which awards its winner with a berth to the Preakness, due out on Wednesday, Oaklawn racing secretary Pat Pope said Saturday. Entries for the mile and an eighth race that runs May 4 are April 28.
Oaklawn handled $3.75 million on its 10-race program Saturday, with $3.1 of that amount bet offtrack. The attendance ontrack on a sunny afternoon when the infield was open was an estimated 12,000.
