Flavien Prat has been named to ride Country House in the Kentucky Derby on May 4 at Churchill Downs, trainer Bill Mott said Wednesday.
Country House most recently was third in the Arkansas Derby behind Omaha Beach and Improbable. Joel Rosario rode him that day, but he is committed to Game Winner for the Derby.
"I need a rider who has confidence in the horse to make one run. I think Prat's style suits my horse," Mott said.
As of now, only Cutting Humor and Gray Magician are without confirmed riders among horses in the top 20 on points. Entry day is Tuesday.
