Jockey Aaron Gryder is off to a perfect start this afternoon, winning the first and fourth races with his first two mounts - Mr. Brownstone ($21.60) and Secret Courier ($6). He has a chance for another longshot win when Ya Gotta Wanna (4) starts in the seventh race, the Grade 2 Charles Whittingham Stakes at 1 1-4 miles on turf.
Ya Gotta Wanna, trained by Phil D'Amato, was eighth in an allowance race with a $62,500 claiming option at a mile on May 4, his first start since a fourth in the Grade 2 San Marcos Stakes at 1 1-4 miles on turf on Feb. 9.
Ya Gotta Wanna is Gryder's final mount of the day.
