Acting on behalf of Sandridge Stables, trainer Eric Guillot purchased a colt by Curlin for $250,000 at Wednesday's Fasig-Tipton Santa Anita 2-year-olds in-training sale.
The colt was the second most expensive hip in the first hour of the sale, surpassed by a Tapiture colt purchased for $350,000.
The Curlin colt is out of Drift to the Lead, the dam of the Saratoga stakes winner Catch My Drift. Monday, the colt worked a furlong in 10.60 seconds in the training preview.
"He was one of the standouts in the sale," Guillot said. "I thought he might go for $400,000."
The colt was listed as sold for $330,000 at the 2018 Keeneland September Yearling Sale to Scott and Evan Dilworth and was consigned to Wednesday's sale by Kings Equine, agent.
