Trainer Mark Casse had to scratch two of his intended runners from stakes races Saturday at Belmont Park. No, War of Will nor Sir Winston were scratched from the Belmont Stakes.
Casse scratched Dream Maker (6-1 ML) out of the Easy Goer Stakes (race 3) due to a bruised right front foot.
Casse also scratched Got Stormy (6-1 ML), out of the Grade 1 Just a Game (race 4). Casse, in a text, wrote that Got Stormy got cast in her stall here a few nights ago and scratched up her right hock.
"Just being cautious," Casse wrote. "Both horses will only miss a couple of days of training."
Other scratches on today's card include Principled (2-1 ML fave) out of the opener. Undrafted and Gidu (he won yesterday) out of the Grade 1 Jaipur (race 6), Epical (15-1 ML) out of the Grade 1 Manhattan (race 10) and Twisted Tom and Roaming Union out of race 12.
Main track is fast and both turf courses are firm and the weather is simply beautiful for the marathon 13-race card that begins at 11:35 a.m.
Enjoy!
