The brilliance of trainer Chad Brown's potent stable of turf performers was on full display in the $1 million Manhattan. Brown swept the top three positions in the Grade 1, 1/4 mile turf fixture after  the 3-5 Bricks and Mortars pulled away to a 1 1/2  length victory over stable mate Robert Bruce with Raging Bull rallying belatedly to finish another three-parts of a length further back in third. The win was the fifth for Brown in the Manhattan and the third Grade 1 victory and fourth graded stakes win overall for Bricks and Mortars in 2019.   

 Olympico, the fourth of Brown's Manhattan starters, finished seventh.          

 Bricks and Mortars was patiently handled by Irad Ortiz Jr., biding his time about 10 lengths behind Qurbaan, who sped off to a long lead in the run down the backstretch. The son of Giant's Causeway advanced four wide while moving to closer contention on the final bend, readily wore down a trio of horses battling for the lead inside the furlong marker and won going away. Robert Bruce was in a bit of traffic on the final turn, finished willingly once clear but proved no match for the winner. Raging Bull rallied belatedly from the rear of the field while never menacing the top pair.

Bricks and Mortar first burst onto the national scene after capturing the inaugural running of Gulfstream Park's Pegasus World Cup to launch his 2019 campaign. He won the Muniz Memorial(G2) and Grade 1 Churchill Downs Turf Classic in his two subsequent starts.

Bricks and Mortar covered the distance over a firm course in 1:58.17 and paid $3.30.
