Reigning Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf champion Sistercharlie picked right up where she left off in November, rallying to a 1 3/4 length victory over 2017 Breeders' Cup winner Rushing Fall making her 2019 debut in the Grade 1 Diana. Stable mate Homerique finished third, giving trainer Chad Brown a sweep of the top three placings in the prestigeous turf fixture for older fillies and mares.
Sistercharlie, who squeezed out a nose decision in the 2018 Diana, was guided to victory by her regular rider John Velazquez. The win was the fourth in a row and eighth in a dozen career starts for the daughter of Myboycharlie who is owned by Peter Brant.
Sistercharlie covered a mile and one eighth over an inner turf course officially rated "good" in 1:47.93 and paid $5.80.
