Baffert calls Mucho Gusto probable for Oklahoma Derby following Monday work at Santa Anita

Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said Monday that Mucho Gusto will likely make his next start in the Grade 3, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby on Sunday at Remington Park. The horse worked at his Santa Anita base Monday, and was timed in 1:00.40 for five-eighths of a mile. Mucho Gusto was third in the Travers in his most recent start Aug. 24 at Saratoga.

"He worked well, and right now, we're planning on running as long as everything goes to plan," Baffert said Monday.

Joe Talamo would have the mount, said Baffert.

Baffert won the Oklahoma Derby with Semoran back in 1996, when the race was held in March and called the Remington Park Derby.

Mucho Gusto has won four Grade 3 races to date for owner Michael Lund Petersen.

Entries for the Oklahoma Derby are to be taken on Wednesday.
