Jockey Richard Eramia, who is off his mounts on the Oklahoma Derby Day card at Remington Park, hopes to resume riding in early October, he said on Sunday.
Eramia was kicked in the shoulder in the saddling paddock Thursday night, prior to the first race. He said on Sunday he still has soreness. Eramia said he sustained two very small fractures in his right shoulder as a result of the incident. He said he has a doctor's appointment on Oct. 4 and if it goes well, he anticipates being able to resume getting on horses Oct. 8.
Eramia is tied atop the Remington Park standings with Stewart Elliott. He last rode Wednesday night at Remington.
