Joel Rosario will replace Kent Desormeaux on Ollie’s Candy in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, trainer John Sadler confirmed Wednesday morning. “Rosario’s my first call rider,” Sadler said. Rosario rides infrequently in California, but he and California-based Sadler have a long history of success together including Accelerate’s victory last fall in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Sadler and Rosario combined to win 228 races from 923 starters (24 percent).
Olllie’s Candy won the Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch with Desormeaux this summer at Del Mar, she finished third last out in the Grade 1 Zenyatta Stakes at Santa Anita. A full report on Breeders’ Cup Distaff developments will be posted later at drf.com.
