Charming Lady got bet down to odds-on favoritism for her career debut in Fair Grounds race 6 - and for good reason. Charming Lady missed the break, was last after a few strides, ran up to race along the fence behind the lead pack, had to bull her way through a tight hole past the quarter-pole to find racing room, did so without turning a hair, and really extended herself to win this maiden-special-weight sprint for 3-year-old fillies going away. She ran six furlongs in a moderate 1:10.81 but probably, on the whole, performed better than that raw time.
Tom Amoss trains Charming Lady for Barbara Webber's BCWT Limited, and Charming Lady is a daughter of Ghostzapper and the Indian Charlie mare, I'm Mom's Favorite. There's some route blood deeper in the pedigree but I'm Mom's Favorite was a sprinter and her best foal to race, D J's Favorite, is a sprinter / miler.
