Lady Apple ($18,40) rallied up the rail to win the Grade 3, $300,000 Houston Ladies Classic over Serengeti Empress on Sunday at Sam Houston Race Park. Street Band finished third. The winner covered the mile and a sixteenth on a fast track in 1:44.19. 

Trainer Steve Asmussen said in a post-race interview on Sam Houston's simulcast feed that Lady Apple could head to Oaklawn next, for the Bayakoa. She won last year's Fantasy at Oaklawn.
