Jockey Eric Cancel, who was unseated from his mount Plebe in Thursday's first race, took off his mounts Friday, but was expected to return to action on Saturday, according to his agent, P.J. Campo.
Cancel was named on four horses Friday, but two were scratched. Jorge Vargas Jr. will ride Rosey's Invasion for Cancel in race 4 and Junior Alvarado is named to ride Shock Therapy for Cancel in race 6.
Campo said Cancel just had "some bumps and bruises" as the result of his fall in Thursday's opener. Cancel was aboard Plebe, who made the lead soon after the start of the Thursday's opener, but then he ducked in sharply and unseated Cancel. Cancel took off his remaining mounts on the card.
Cancel went to a local hospital but X-rays were negative.
Jose Lezcano, who was also unseated in that same race, came back to ride his remaining mounts on Thursday's card.
Cancel is the the third-leading rider at the winter meet with 26 victories.
Cancel is named to ride in seven of Saturday's nine races.
