Little Bird ($6.20) rallied from fourth in the final three furlongs to win for the first time in the United States in Friday's seventh race, an optional claimer for 3-year-old fillies at a mile on turf.
Little Bird was jockey Joel Rosario's third and final win of the day. He does not ride the seventh, and final, race.
Little Bird, trained by Richard Baltas, finished 1 1-4 lengths in front of 15-1 Madame Bourbon, who was a neck in front of 7-2 Carpe Vinum. Little Bird was timed in 1:35.47.
An Irish-bred filly by the High Chaparral stallion Free Eagle, Little Bird has won 3 of 6 starts. She wo two minor races at Doncaster and Lingfield racecourses in England last year. In her American debut, Little Bird finished sixth of nine in the Blue Norther Stakes for 2-year-old fillies on Dec. 29.
