Auberge ($3.40) won for the second time in three starts to give Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert his 2,999th career win in North America in Saturday's third race.
Ridden by Drayden Van Dyke, Auberge wa always prominent in the optional claimer at six furlongs and won by 2 1-4 lengths over 9-5 Speech, the subject of a significant late bet. Auberge was timed in 1:10.09.
Owned by Speedway Stable, Auberge won her debut here in a maiden special weight race in October and was second in the Grade 2 Santa Ynez Stakes to stablemate Bast on Jan. 5.
Baffert's next runners are Thousand Words, the 4-5 favorite, and High Velocity in the sixth race, the Grade 3 Robert Lewis Stakes for 3-year-olds at 1 1-16 miles.
