Princess Mo, who has been second twice in her first six starts, scored a massive upset as the third-longest shot in a field of eight in Sunday's first race for 3-year-old maiden fillies at a mile.
Princess Mo ($138) finished a nose in front of Merneith, the 6-5 favorite. Princess Mo was purchased for $20,000 at a 2-year-olds in-training sale and races for Susan Derby and Gary Folgner and trainer Ruben Gomez. Princess Mo was fourth behind Merneith in a maiden special weight race at 6 1-2 furlongs on Jan. 20, the first career start for Merneith.
Merneith, a $600,000 purchase at the same 2-year-olds in-training sale last year, races for Prince Sultan Bin Mishal Al Saud and trainer Bob Baffert.
Princess Mo, who was ridden by Geovanni Franco, was timed in 1:38.49.
