Jockey Flavien Prat won six of the first nine races at Santa Anita on Sunday, the 14th time a rider has won at least that many races in a day in track history.
Laffit Pincay, Jr. holds the record for most wins in a day, recording seven victories on March 14, 1987.
Prat is the first rider to win six races on a day at Santa Anita since Rafael Bejarano on April 8, 2006. Jockeys Sandy Hawley, Darrel McHargue, Corey Nakatani, Martin Pedroza, Bill Shoemaker, Steve Valdez, and Pat Valenzuela accomplished the milestone.
Pincay won six races on Feb. 17, 1973 and on March 4, 1981 before his seven-timer six years later. Hawley and McHargue accomplished the milestone twice. Hawley achieved the feat twice in the same season - Feb. 20, 1976 and again on March 26 of that year.
Prior to Sunday, Prat's best day was a five-win afternoon at Del Mar last August.
