The Texas Racing Commission and Lone Star Park will work together to attempt to open the Grand Prairie, Texas, track for live racing Friday. It will be spectator-free racing. Lone Star had been scheduled to open April 16, but had to postpone the meet due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Scott Wells, president of Lone Star, addressed the commssion Tuesday and spoke of the potential of opening as early as Friday.
The commission staff discussed logistics of licensing racing participants, in part while keeping social distancing protocols.
"We will try to make this work, try to make everyone in place and ready to go for Friday," said Chuck Trout, executive director of the Texas Racing Commission.
The comments were made during a meeting of the commission.
