Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, La., will be able to open its meet before spectators Friday night after state officials announced Thursday night Louisiana has moved into Phase 2 of its reopening, according to Chris Warren, director of racing for the track. Warren said patrons will only be able to bet the live races Friday night as simulcasting will not be available until Wednesday.
UPDATE: Warren said patrons will need to enter the casino area, have their temperatures checked, and can bet the live card in the casino area. Patrons will have to watch from televisions there, he said. The track's simulcast area that has access to its apron is scheduled to open to the public by Wednesday.
