Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, La., will be adding a race to its cards starting Monday, the track announced. As a rule, Louisiana Downs has put on seven-race cards so far in 2020. The track increased purses in August.
“Supporting our local horsemen continues to be a high priority for Harrah’s Louisiana Downs,” David Heitzmann, director of racing for Louisiana Downs, said in a press release. “We were forced to delay the start of our meet due to COVID-19, which was not expected. Then, Hurricane Laura had a devastating impact on many members of our racing community. We are hopeful that the purse increase and extra day will benefit these horsemen who have been very loyal to our racetrack.”
The track will put on the Louisiana Cup card Sept. 19. It will be drawn Saturday. The season ends Sept. 23.
