Danny Caldwell, a perennial leading owner at Remington Park, just won the third race with Big Biz and the horse gave him his 998th Thoroughbred victory as an owner. He has five more starters on the card as he nears a milestone of 1,000 Thoroughbred wins. Caldwell has starters in at the Remington meet through the close of the season Tuesday.
"I want to do it here. This is my hometrack," he said.
Caldwell's first Thoroughbred wins came in 2007, according to records from Daily Racing Form. He has gone on to win multiple titles at Oaklawn Park, Prairie Meadows and Remington.
"The credit goes to my team," he said, expressing gratitude for the horses, trainers, jockeys, grooms, blacksmiths and others who contribute to the stable.
Caldwell also has raced Quarter Horses, and overall as an owner has won 1,104 races from 5,631 starts, according to records from Daily Racing Form. Those runners have earned a combined $21 million.
Caldwell and his wife, Allison, are the owners of the uniquely marked Southern Phantom.
