Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes winner Keepmeinmind breezed Wednesday at Oaklawn Park under regular rider David Cohen. The horse and his jockey - a past title winner at Oaklawn - both arrived at the Hot Springs, Ark., track right after Christmas.
"Funny enough, he showed up to Hot Springs from Kentucky about an hour before I got in," said Cohen. "We were really on the exact same schedule."
Cohen said he did not know Keepmeinmind was traveling the exact same day as him until he talked later that day to trainer Robertino Diodoro.
"We were both coming from Lexington," said Cohen.
The breeze Wednesday was the first published move for Keepmeinmind since his Nov. 28 win in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes, a points race for the Kentucky Derby.
"We just did a little easy half-mile," Cohen said Wednesday. "Just let him stretch his legs."
Cohen is gearing up for a big meet at Oaklawn. In addition to Diodoro, he said he looks forward to riding for an array of trainers, including Tom Amoss, Bret Calhoun, Jerry Hollendorfer and Ingrid Mason.
"I'm hoping for a strong meet," he said. "I have a lot of support here from the owners and trainers."
And, a top 3-year-old to look forward to in Keepmeinmind.
