Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., will conduct its post position draws via Zoom during the upcoming meet, said Pat Pope, the track's racing secretary. The season starts Jan. 22.
Pope said all entries will be taken by phone. In addition, jockey agents will not be allowed in the racing office. The moves are being made to reduce traffic in light of the ongoing pandemic. Jockey agents have access to the backstretch, said Pope.
The pandemic and state protocols also will lead to the track opening with limited spectators.
Pope said the first day of entries will be Jan. 15. As a rule, Oaklawn's entry schedule will be as follows:
Wednesday for Sunday
Thursday for the following Thursday
Friday for the following Friday
Saturday for the following Saturday
