Derby candidate, 92 Beyer

The Great One earned a 92 Beyer crushing a mile maiden race by 14 lengths on Saturday at Santa Anita, final time 1:37.28. The Great One is from the first crop sired by O’Neill-trained Nyquist, the 2016 Kentucky Derby winner and 2015 champion juvenile male. Abel Cedillo rode The Great One on Saturday. In his previous start, The Great One finished second in the Grade 2 Los Alamitos Futurity.

Wildman Jack and Cedillo capped a stellar Saturday for O’Neill by winning the Grade 3 Palos Verdes Stakes by more than four lengths in 1:08.98, fastest six furlongs of the meet. Wildman Jack, sired by O’Neill-trained two-time Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile winner Goldencents, earned a 104 Beyer.
