Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico announced Thursday that it plans to open its meet May 28 and race through Labor Day, pending approval from the state's racing commission at its next meeting March 18.
New Mexico tracks had been unable to operate their casinos for much of the last year due to the pandemic and the situation that contributed to the cancellation of the recent meet at Sunland Park. The state is lifting restrictions. Click here for more details from Daily Racing Form's Steve Andersen.
Ruidoso plans to open its stable area April 15, while training will begin April 19, according to the press release. Stall applications are due by March 17. Those receiving stalls for the mixed meet that offers racing for Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds will be informed by April 1.
The $3 million All American Futurity remains in place for this year, just as it was run in 2020.
The condition book and stakes schedule will be released after the approvals of the commission.
