Our Iris Rose ($48.40) won the $100,000 Memorial Day Sprint, the first of five stakes on the Lone Star Million Day card Monday at Lone Star Park.
She covered six furlongs on a sealed track rated good in 1:10.27.
The track has been downgraded to muddy, according to the stewards at Lone Star. The next main track race is the Texas Derby, which goes as Race 9. The upcoming eighth is the Chamberlain Bridge, which right now is slated to be run on a course rated good. It has been raining, and there is more than a half-hour to post for the turf stakes because of a drawning for a Ford Bronco, according to the stewards at Lone Star.
Richard Eramia was aboard the winner for trainer Todd Fincher. Our Iris Rose is a half-sister to Sheriff Brown, who runs later on the card in the Steve Sexton Mile.
UPDATE - The turf course has been downgraded to yielding for the upcoming Chamberlain Bridge.
