Welder, the reigning Oklahoma-bred of the Year, is entered in the $45,000 Route 66 Stakes on Tuesday at Fair Meadows in Tulsa. He will break from post 5 in the eight-horse field and regular rider David Cabrera has the mount for Ra-Max Farms and trainer Theresa Luneack.
The start will be Welder's first at Fair Meadows and his first around two turns, according to records from Daily Racing Form. The race at the five-eighths of a mile track is for Oklahoma-breds at six and a half furlongs. Welder is a multiple stakes winner at the distance, but at a one-turn configuration at Remington Park. He enters off a third-place finish in an allowance sprint June 5 at Prairie Meadows.
Welder is an earner of more than $1.2 million, and a three-time Oklahoma-bred of the Year.
