Multiple Grade 1 winner Jess Savin Candy was the fastest qualifier on Day 2 of trials for the $3 million All American Futurity, according to a Twitter post by Ruidoso Downs.
There were a total of 30 trials held over two days, with the horses with the five fastest times from each day earning a spot in the starting gate for the finale Sept. 6.
Jess Savin Candy ($2.60) covered 440 yards on a fast track in 21.18 seconds. He won by a half-length. Jess Savin Candy won the fifth of 15 trials Saturday at Ruidoso Downs.
He is now positioned to bid for a historic feat. He will attempt to become just the second Quarter Horse in history to win his sport's Triple Crown for 2-year-olds. Earlier this meet, Jess Savin Candy won the first two futurities in the series, the Ruidoso and the Rainbow.
