Evangeline Downs in Opelousas, La., ran Thursday night’s final four races for purse money only after an internet outage impacted the tote system, according to Chris Warren, director of racing for the track’s parent company, Boyd Gaming.
Warren said the tote system was unable to put out any odds. The decision was made to carry on with the card for the benefit of horsemen, and racing was conducted for purse money only on the fifth through eighth races.
“The first four races went off without a hitch,” he said.
