Refrigerator, the world champion Quarter Horse, and trainer Dwayne "Sleepy" Gilbreath are part of a class of five individuals set to be inducted into the Texas horse Racing Hall of Fame during an Oct. 15 gala at Lone Star Park, according to a notice. Others set to enter the Hall are Mike Carter, Stan Sigman and Janet VanBebber.
Jeff Hooper will receive the JoAnn Weber Distinguished Service Award.
The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. Central. Tickets are available through the website www.txhof.com. Proceeds from the gala will benefit Restoration Ranch and the Racetrack Chaplaincies of Texas, according to a notice from the Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame.
The gala is an annual event that began at Retama Park near San Antonio and it has traveled in some years to Sam Houston and Lone Star. Lone Star is in the midst of a meet for Quarter Horses.
