Oaklawn Park takes entries Saturday for its Dec. 9 opener next Friday.
Jockey Ricardo Santana Jr., who has won multiple titles at the track, will again be wintering in Arkansas but will not start riding at the meet until the second week of racing, according to his agent, Jimmy Riccio Jr. Santana has days from a riding infraction and they will be served over the first week of the meet. Santana recently won both the $250,000 Zia Park Derby and $250,000 Zia Park Oaks in New Mexico.
Oaklawn's entry schedule for the first week of the meet is Saturday for Friday, Dec. 9; Monday for Saturday, Dec. 10; and Tuesday for Sunday, Dec. 11.
The long range forecast for the season opener is a high of 57 degrees and "cloudy with a couple of showers," according to AccuWeather. The forecast for next Saturday is cloudy and a high of 52 degrees and the forecast for next Sunday a high of 55 degrees with "clouds giving way to some sun," according to AccuWeather.
