Steely Resolve closed from off the pace to win his career debut in a maiden race at 6 1-2 furlongs for 3-year-olds and older in Wednesday's sixth race.

The win was a bit overdue. Steely Resolve was purchased for $875,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sale of 2-year-olds in-training in April, 2016. Owned by Paul and Zillah Reddam, Steely Resolve is trained by Doug O'Neill and was ridden by Mario Gutierrez.

Steely Resolve was timed in 1:17.01.

Steely Resove won the first leg of the 50-cent pick four that drew a pool of $545,645.
