If Bombilate wins Saturday's eighth race, or any other race of significance in the United States, she will immediately provide a payoff for owner Deron Pearson and trainer Jim Cassidy.
Bombilate was bought for approximately $40,000 at a horses in-training sale in England last December. The first place purse of Saturday's eighth race is $37,200.
Of course, there is the pedigree factor in the long term. Bombilate is out of the War Chant mare Wild Chant, who is out of Fun House, a Grade 2 winner in California who produced two millionaire Grade 1 winners - Untapable, the champion 3-year-old filly of 2014, and Paddy O'Prado.
Later generations of the pedigree include the stakes winners Call Now and Olympio.
On the track, Bombilate (1) had mixed form in England, winning once in five starts - a maiden race on the all-weather surface at Wolverhampton in April 2016. She was later a game second in a minor handicap at 1 1-4 miles on turf at Nottingham in May 2016 before finishing a well-beaten seventh a few weeks later at Salisbury, his most recent start.
Bombilate, a New YOrk-bred by Kitten's Joy, was meant to be a much better horse. He was bought for $350,000 as a yearling in 2014 and was raced by Godolphin and trainer Charlie Appleby in England.
Bombilate is an 8-1 shot on the morning-line on Saturday. If she hits he board in this field, it would be a surprise. Runners such as Girl Downstairs (10) and Ok Doll (11) have greater appeal.
