On paper there appears to be a good amount of early pace signed on in this year’s Chandelier. ALLURING STAR (2), MOONSHINE MEMORIES (3) and JUST A SMIDGE (8) have all flashed solid early foot in their brief careers, but there’s a scenario where only one of them is sent hard today.

Moonshine Memories has proven she can run fast on the lead, but perhaps today is the day her connections find out if she can rate or not. Just a Smidge is trained by Bob Baffert, but so is Alluring Star; considering Alluring Star is drawn nearest the rail, it seems reasonable that she’s sent and Just a Smidge is taken off the pace breaking from the outside. If that happens, Alluring Star has a giant chance to wire this field today.
