Edwards Going Left ($5.20) won for the fifth time in his last seven starts in an optional claimer at 6 1-2 furlongs in Sunday's second race.
Ridden by Tyler Baze, Edwards Going Left finished a half-length in front of 16-1 Aristocratic in the field of six. Gonna Fly Now, a 10-1 shot, finished sixth in his first start since November, 2013. Gonna Fly Now was beaten 10 lengths by Edwards Going Left, and a head behind fifth-place finisher Mesa Sky.
Edwards Going Left was sixth in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship in his last start for Pete and Kosta Hronis and trainer John Sadler. At Del Mar during the summer, Edwards Going Left was third in the Real Good Deal Stakes for 3-year-old California-bred sprinters and won an optional claimer.
