Fault, winner of the Grade 2 Buena Vista Stakes on turf at Santa Anita in her last start, likely will run on dirt and go for her first Grade 1 victory on Saturday in the Santa Margarita, rather than remain on turf in the Grade 2 Santa Ana on Sunday, trainer Phil D'Amato said Friday morning.
She was entered in both races.
The Santa Margarita has a higher grade and the purse is twice as much ($400k vs $200k). It also became far more appealing when Unique Bella, intended for the race, had to pass it owing to a recent cough.
