Breaking the Rules benefitted from a hotly contested pace and an unlucky trip for the 3-5 Zippy Willy, rallying up the rail to win his debut at 8-1 for trainer Shug McGaughey in the 10th race at Gulfstream Park. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. did a good job angling Breaking the Rules, a son of War Front, out of a tight spot near mid-stretch and to the inside from where he was able to outfinish the odds on favorite. Zippy Willy did not break alertly and wound up getting a wide trip, battling on willingly to be second best for the second time in as many starts.
