National Flag had one horse beaten at the three-sixteenths pole.
Inside the sixteenth pole, he had them all beaten as he flew home in the stretch under Flavien Prat to win the Grade 3, $250,000 Bay Shore Stakes by four lengths. It was the second straight stakes win for trainer Todd Pletcher who had just won the Grade 1 Carter with Army Mule.
For the Southern California-based Prat, it was his first win at Aqueduct as this the first day he has ridden here.
Engage, the 6-5 favorite, rallied along the inside to be second by three-quarters of a length over Aveenu Malcainu.
As well as National Flag ran, he was still 2.22 seconds slower than Army Mule.
