Bruised foot KO's Midnight Disguise from Black-Eyed Susan

Midnight Disguise will be scratched from Friday’s Grade 2, $250,000 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico due to a bruised right front foot, trainer Linda Rice said Thursday. Midnight Disguise was the co-second choice at 4-1 on the track morning-line.

Rice said Midnight Disguise showed signs of lameness Wednesday night around feed time at her Belmont Park barn. Further evaluation revealed the bruise.

“We’re working on it but she’s not good enough to take to Maryland,” Rice said by phone from New York Thursday afternoon.”

Rice said she didn’t expect Midnight Disguise to be sidelined long. Rice mentioned the Bouwerie Stakes for New York-breds on May 28, the Grade 1 Acorn on June 9 or the Grade 2 Mother Goose on June 30 as possible next starts for Midnight Disguise.

Midnight Disguise, a daughter of Midnight Lute, won the Busanda and Busher Stakes at Aqueduct during the winter. She has not run since finishing fourth as the favorite in the Grade 3 Gazelle at Aqueduct on April 7.

Her scratch leaves the Black-Eyed Susan with a field of nine led by Coach Rocks, Red Ruby, Sara Street and Goodonehoney
