The main track is fast and the turf courses are 'good' as we kick off NY Showcase Day at Belmont. No carryover in the pick six.
There is a lot going on and there are some very competitive fields throughout the day, so lets hit some spots.
Race 1:
#10 Crater Rim
- Wound up at the back of the field last time in a race that did not have a competitive pace, and was finishing well late
- Showed that she has some positional speed in her turf debut vs. MSW company
- Should be a fair price in a race without much to hold on to with the known quantities
6:1 on ML.
Race 6:
#4 Aunt Babe
- May not be good enough as she faces a very tough field, but she's a big price.
- Underrated effort last time in a race that did not set up well for her running style.
- Has closed to win two stakes already, and projects to have some pace in front of her today.
20:1 on ML.
Race 8:
#10 Dot Matrix
- Has really improved since arriving in this barn for last four starts.
- Exits impressive win after a troubled trip last time while running down a talented Profiteer in the stretch.
- Has run his race in NY in the past.
3:1 on ML.
Race 10:
#2 Goodbye Brockley
- Bred for turf and improved promptly when switched over for her final start as a 2yo.
- Appeared to need that first start back while failing to look sharp and winding up in traffic late.
- Blinkers on for second start off the layoff.
15:1 on ML.
