Finger Lakes racetrack in Farmington, N.Y., has canceled its Saturday card after the track failed to draw enough horses on Wednesday to fill the day's races, according to an official at the track.
Patrick Placito, the track's director of simulcasting and mutuels, confirmed on Wednesday that the card has been canceled, but he declined to offer any other details about the cancellation or the potential for a make-up card later in the track's meet, referring questions to the track's racing secretary, Fred Hutton, who did not return a phone call call.
This is the second card that Finger Lakes has canceled this racing season as the track struggles to fill fields. Finger Lakes has live race cards scheduled for Monday through Thursday next week.
Christian Riegle, the track's general manager, also did not immediately return a phone call.
