Irad Ortiz Jr. has picked up the mount on City of Light for the Grade 1 Forego next Saturday at Saratoga, in which City of Light will seek his third Grade 1 victory, this according to his trainer Michael McCarthy.
"We're very excited to have Irad," McCarthy said Sunday morning.
Drayden Van Dyke had been riding City of Light, but he found himself in a conflict for next Saturday when Catalina Cruiser was committed to the Pat O'Brien at Del Mar.
City of Light won the Malibu and Triple Bend over the past eight months, but he might now be best known as the only horse who has defeated Accelerate this year, that coming going 1 1/8 miles in the Oaklawn Handicap, giving City of Light significant victories ranging from seven furlongs to 1 1/8 miles.
The Forego is at seven furlongs, and is a "Win and You're In" for the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile on Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs.
