The promising 3-year-old filly Secret Spice won for the second time in her eighh start in an allowance race with a $40,00 claiming option at a mile in Sunday's ninth race
Ridden by Flavien Prat, Secret Spice had a perfect trip. She stalked the pace before taking the lead on the turn and pulled clear to win by 11 1-4 lengths over Just Grazed Me, the even-money favorite.
Secret Spice was timed in 1:36.01. Owned by Little Red Feather Racing partnership and trained by Richard Baltas, Secret Spice won her second start in a maiden special weight race at 5 1-2 furlongs here in October 2017, and lost her next five starts, including a third in the Desi Arnaz Stakes at seven furlongs at Del Mar last November.
Sunday's race was her third race following a five-month layoff from February to July. At the Del Mar summer meeting, Secret Spice was fifth and second in allowance races or optional claimers.
