First Lady winner A Raving Beauty, pre-entered in both the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf and Mile, is considered more likely for the Filly and Mare Turf at this stage, trainer Chad Brown said on a teleconference Wednesday afternoon. Brown called the distance of the Filly and Mare Turf - 1 3/8 miles - "unchartered territory" for her, but expressed concerns about the quickness of the male participants she would face in the Mile. These comments match the preferences announced by her connections at the time of pre-entry.
A Raving Beauty is one of five horses Brown pre-entered in the Filly and Mare Turf, along with Sistercharlie, Fourstar Crook, Santa Monica, and Thais.
Brown said all of his runners would ship to Churchill Downs on Monday.
Included is video of A Raving Beauty winning the one-mile First Lady at Keeneland earlier this month. Brown suggested she may employ similar frontrunning tactics in the Breeders' Cup.
